like that hasn't been what has been aimed at, what's been incited and prepared for. like i was addressing my dear heads of g8-states in my peaceful protest, as if i'd be totally delusional. as if there'd be room for negotiation, dream on. as if there'd be the slightest chance to be taken seriously no matter how non-violent or argument-equipped.
as if any black block's (or 'terrorists') supposed actions were the reason and not just another pretext for more repression, as if we didn't know what divide and rule was. as if we were all the same. as if civil disobedience were not also defined as violence.
i put my body there to raise the number of the non-intimidated, that's all. and if i weren't that intimidated, i'd aim a little higher than that.

today: i felt free.

i am real sick of being represented by alice schwarzer in her function as germany's most prominent 'feminist'. she just still gets so much media attention because she combines some liberal pseudo-feminism (yeah, i am just saying that as if i knew what 'real' feminism was) with islamophobia. daring to speak 'for' muslim women, supposedly on their behalf, while just practising good old divide-and-rule. well, this might sound kind of banal to some of you, but i do not believe that „the systematic infiltration of our judicial system by islamic forces“ as schwarzer claims is the reason for that judge's decision to not grant the woman, who had been beaten and threatened with death by her husband, an immediate divorce. what the fuck? schwarzer did not even consider that the judge might have very very strange ideas about what 'islam'/'sharia' means – and that it might have been exactly islamophobia/racism and sexism that informed her decision and the statement that it's somehow a woman's own fault if she is beaten because she married a muslim man. schwarzer should have maybe listened to what some muslim feminists and non-feminists, and the woman in question herself have to say about the topic before opening her mouth. but she never does, and she would not get interviewed if her views wouldn't match mainstream islamophobic discourse in the name of some 'universal' feminism. so white christian mainstream feminists can make pretty alliances with the respective men in order to protect in this case muslim women from the bad 'other' men. perfect.
happy backlash, again, again, again. more babble on 'false tolerance', 'integration' and islam-bashing ahead.

in retrospective i think that i have already peripherically noticed the karstadt-campaign, but must have registered it under same ol' and repressed. efficiency-related reasoning unfortunately led me to step into karstadt am hermannplatz (germany-wide shopping center chain). my environmental harassment defense filters actually do get better thanks to much traning on continuous exposure to violent representations, so that on good days i can tunnel video and audio, in this case for 15 minutes.
i was looking for a bra, annoying thing itself, since i look for those that deflect attention away from my tits, unfortunately they mostly are designed for the opposite purpose (those who read Egalia's Daughters may chuckle thinking of PH), and uncomfortable, too. since there is luckily not much to deflect from sizewise, it's mostly about finding a comfy shell in order to avoid staring at my nipples (and subsequent accusations of „rosinenschmuggel“), as well as to avoid nipple-irritation, important especially when going dancing. so confronting the bras already slightly changes my mood, and i notice they were playing animal sounds interrupted by more obnoxious commercials for easter. i succeed in the bra-battle, happy about how fast that went, look a the bag, there's a tiger on it, and the slogan: „the city becomes exotic.“ (Die Stadt wird exotisch.) actually the whole place is full of that stuff, and near the overground exit hermannplatz, there actually is a whole area in 'jungle'-optics, featuring a lonely sitar player.
try googling that phrase and you will be delighted that cities such as Gießen or Oberberg or Fulda have become 'exotic' over the last three weeks, by executing a program containing all kinds of activities best described as „imperialist nostalgia“ (jungle-parties for kids, selling all kinds of products that are labeled 'exotic', especially with animal fur designs, art-contests, music performances, food. 'exotic events' mean for example in this store brazilian, african, caribbean and indian music performances and body painting).
apparently karstadt has been quite 'successful' creating a germany-wide fantasy jungle playground for white children and adults, where we can safely indulge in our imaginations of the 'exotic'. the whole thing is being combined with the compulsory charity-gesture (wwf), so obviously it's all for a good cause, and anybody who objects wants these tigers to die. (check here as an example, i don't want to quote.) this is so fucked up because it inverts reality, we can now imagine ourselves as the ones saving the tigers and pandas from extinction with a single action, and not as the ones responsible for it by our general modes of consumption, and the history of colonialism and the current economic structures we profit from.

gerade hab ich mal wieder nach langer zeit meinen counter besucht, und besonders interessiert immer, über welche google-suchbegriffe bei mir gelandet wird, worüber ja auch überall gerne gebloggt wird. die durchschnittliche verweildauer der leute beträgt zwar 0.00 sekunden, aber nun ja. was mich freut, sind die ganzen leute mit sockenschuss, die verrücktseins-metaphern googlen, sowie diejenigen, die zu sexistischer werbung oder eva herman recherchieren. der meistbesuchte, weil -verlinkte, text ist die exotismus-kritik der hörzu werbung. da u.a. das wort „erbrechen“ im titel vorkommt, kommen auch viele leute bei mir vorbei, die ratschläge oder bildmaterial zum thema erbrechen suchen, welche es hier in der tat zuhauf gibt. mein prinzip ist zwar gewissermaßen ein bulimisches, und ich kotze bzw. huste hier öfter mal in voller absicht das aus, was ich nicht bei mir behalten will oder kann - mit dem unterschied, dass es sich dabei meist nicht um zu diesem zweck bzw. 'freiwillig' konsumiertes kulturgut handelt. es ist mir dennoch ein anliegen, dass ihr versucht, zumindest eure nahrung bei euch zu behalten, bitte.

okay i admit that i am not really sick of all these goodbyes. my sister's farewell was just really tough and there were so many goodbyes lately with people i love that it was just too much to handle. as my most precious offline commentator pointed out dans sa „minute love“, they are also very beautiful because „on sent vivre les gens en nous“ (~we feel people living within us)...
they are actually the moments in which we can feel how intensely we are attached to loved ones, and it's a rather sweet pain, living nextdoor to memories of togetherness and preparations for the next encounter. voilà.

j'en peux vraiment plus de ces adieus. vraiment plus.

one of the reasons why i have tried avoiding working for money is that i didn't want to have a price tag. now it reads: 8,70.
i must admit working – even on a pretty dull job – is somehow very gratifying. especially compared to university work, where the main work consists in disciplining myself to do it, dealing with bad conscience for never doing enough, and dealing with self-esteem issues such as everything i write sucks and no one cares anyway.
i work in an online computer store directed at students, in order to buy myself a computer most of all. made a joke the other day about how at least this way i'm not as alienated of the product of my work then, which my boss didn't find very funny and led him to a 15 minute monologue on how capitalism and his enterprise are morally justified and self-evident... hapu.
and it's true, this job is just complex enough to make time pass by fast, and easy enough to not be too tiring. it's so much easier to move my ass there compared to a library, and after a shift i feel like i have done my lot for the day, a feeling that hardly ever occurs when writing... when handing in a paper in time and even getting a good grade i feel like something is wrong with the teacher or like luckily one more time i miraculously got through. sometimes after rereading i find it wasn't that bad after all...
guess i'll try some more to appreciate my own/intellectual work in itself and not because it pays off and is therefore acceptable, and of course at raising my price tag to two digits.
